Description
Tesamorelin is a 44–amino acid synthetic peptide that mimics naturally occurring growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). It acts on the pituitary gland to increase the pulsatile secretion of growth hormone (GH), which in turn raises IGF-1 levels, enhances lipolysis, reduces visceral fat, and supports tissue repair and metabolic health.
Mechanism of Action
-
Pituitary Stimulation: Promotes endogenous GH release in a physiologic, pulsatile pattern
-
IGF-1 Elevation: Enhances muscle repair, cellular growth, and metabolic regulation
-
Fat Metabolism: Reduces visceral adipose tissue and supports body composition improvement
-
Restoration of Physiologic GH Pulses: Unlike direct GH therapy, it maintains hormonal balance naturally
Dosage Guidelines (Research Use)
-
Morning (AM): 1–2 mg subcutaneous injection before workout in a fasted state, 5 days/week
-
Evening (PM): 1–2 mg subcutaneous injection at night to align with natural GH release
-
Cycle Length: 8–10 weeks with a recommended off-cycle of 4–8 weeks
-
Higher Dosage: Should be split into two daily administrations
Important Notes
-
Carbs and fat may blunt GH release; take at least 30 minutes before eating or 2 hours after
-
Generally well tolerated; potential mild side effects include injection site redness, headache, dizziness, or flushing
-
Caution advised in individuals with active malignancy or pituitary disorders
Useful Information
-
Class: Growth Hormone–Releasing Hormone (GHRH) analogue
-
Research Focus: Metabolic health, tissue repair, visceral fat reduction, and GH modulation
