Description

Gonadorelin (Pyr-His-Trp-Ser-Tyr-Gly-Leu-Arg-Pro-Gly-NH₂) is a synthetic decapeptide analogue of natural gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) secreted by the hypothalamus. It is designed to stimulate the release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) from the anterior pituitary, supporting downstream reproductive signaling.

Mechanism of Action

  • Binds to GnRH receptors in the anterior pituitary

  • Triggers pulsatile secretion of LH and FSH, regulating reproductive hormone production

  • Stimulates testosterone and sperm production in males and estrogen and follicular development in females

  • Intermittent or pulsatile administration mimics natural hypothalamic signaling, helping reactivate the HPG (hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal) axis in research models of hormonal suppression or decline

Dosage Guidelines (Research Use)

  • Typical Dose: 100–200 mcg administered as a single injection (IV or SC)

  • Purpose: Primarily used for diagnostic testing of pituitary function

  • Procedure: Blood samples are collected before and after administration to assess LH and FSH response

Important Notes

  • Designed for laboratory research use only

  • Not intended for human or animal consumption or medical use

  • Intermittent dosing is critical; continuous administration may suppress the HPG axis

Useful Information

  • Class: Synthetic hypothalamic peptide / GnRH analogue

  • Category: Endocrine & Reproductive Peptides

  • Primary Research Focus: Pituitary function testing, hormonal regulation, HPG axis studies
