Description
Ipamorelin (Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH₂) is a synthetic pentapeptide that functions as a selective growth hormone secretagogue. It binds to the ghrelin (GHSR-1a) receptor in the pituitary gland, stimulating the release of endogenous growth hormone (GH) in a physiological, pulsatile manner. Unlike other GH secretagogues, Ipamorelin does not significantly elevate cortisol or prolactin levels, providing a “cleaner” GH pulse for research purposes.
Mechanism of Action
-
Selectively binds to ghrelin receptors in the pituitary
-
Stimulates endogenous GH release without affecting cortisol or prolactin
-
Enhances muscle recovery, fat metabolism, and tissue repair
-
Aligns with the body’s natural GH cycle when administered at night, optimizing GH secretion during deep sleep
Dosage Guidelines (Research Use)
-
Typical Dose: 300 mcg – 1 mg per administration
-
Frequency:
-
Morning, fasted, before workouts (5 days per week)
-
Evening, 30–60 minutes before sleep, to match natural GH cycles
-
-
Cycle Length: 8–10 weeks, followed by an off-cycle of 4–8 weeks
-
Higher doses may be split into two administrations per day
-
Carbohydrates and fats may blunt GH release; best taken 30 minutes before meals or 2 hours after eating
Side Effects (Research Use)
-
Generally well tolerated
-
Occasional redness, swelling, or mild discomfort at the injection site
-
Rare effects: headache, transient dizziness, or flushing
Useful Information
-
Class: Selective growth hormone secretagogue (GHRP analog)
-
Category: Growth Hormone Peptides
-
Primary Research Focus: GH release, muscle recovery, fat metabolism, tissue repair
