Description
GHRP-2 (Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide-2) is a synthetic hexapeptide designed to stimulate the body’s natural growth hormone (GH) secretion by binding to the ghrelin (GHSR-1a) receptor in the pituitary and hypothalamus. This results in pulsatile GH release, increasing both amplitude and frequency of GH pulses, which supports elevated IGF-1, improved fat metabolism, and enhanced muscle recovery.
Mechanism of Action
-
Stimulates endogenous GH secretion through the ghrelin receptor (GHSR-1a)
-
Promotes physiologic pulsatility of GH rather than continuous elevation
-
Supports downstream benefits such as muscle recovery, fat metabolism, and overall anabolic signaling
Dosage Guidelines (Research Use)
-
Typical Dose: 200–500 mcg in the morning before workouts, in a fasted state
-
Frequency: 5 days per week
-
Cycle Length: 12–14 weeks, followed by a recommended off-cycle of 4–8 weeks
-
Higher doses may be split into 2–3 administrations per day
-
Often paired with CJC-1295 for synergistic GH release
Application Notes
-
Used in research protocols focused on muscle growth, appetite stimulation, or recovery from illness
-
Carbohydrates and fats can blunt GH release; best administered 30 minutes before meals or 2 hours after eating
Side Effects (Research Use)
-
Increased hunger (may be beneficial in certain protocols)
-
Water retention
-
Tingling in extremities
-
Gradual dose escalation is recommended to reduce side effects
Useful Information
-
Class: Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide (Ghrelin mimetic)
-
Category: Growth Hormone Peptides
-
Primary Research Focus: GH secretion, fat metabolism, muscle recovery, appetite regulation
